UTI Causes and Symptoms
Urinary tract infections occur when bacteria enter the body through the urethra and multiply in the bladder. The bacteria will begin to spread throughout the urinary system from the bladder until treated with antibiotics. This bacteria usually originates in the gastrointestinal tract, with E. coli being the most common causal micro-organism. The bacteria can spread on their own, through sexual intercourse, or can develop as a secondary effect of sexually transmitted infections.
